Borrowing Materials


 Library collections circulate to faculty, staff, graduate students, undergraduate students, Emory alumni and authorized users from Atlanta area consortial schools.  To learn about how to find materials at the MacMillan Law Library, please see this page.

  • Reminder and overdue notices are sent via email daily as a courtesy; however, patrons are responsible for keeping track of the status of their account via discoverE.
  • Borrowing privileges are non-transferable and all library materials are the sole responsibility of the borrower until they are returned to the library from which they were borrowed.
    • Research assistants who are proxies for Law Faculty MUST have an RA form on file before borrowing to ensure materials are checked out to their faculty member.  Please do NOT check out materials on your student account and give them to a faculty member.
  • As outlined by the Federal Privacy Act of 1974 and the Emory University Senate, all library patron records are confidential and will not be disclosed to a third party.    
  • The law library reserves the right to block any borrower at any time for excessive numbers of overdue materials or unpaid bills.  
  • The library will accept replacements in kind for lost law library materials, provided the item is new and given to the library prior to August 1st.  Processing fees may apply.
